At approximately 1:06 a.m. on May 5, 2026, firefighters responded to a house fire on Glenhurst Drive in Houston and encountered heavy smoke and flames coming from the home.
Crews worked to ventilate the structure and force entry, but access was slowed by security bars on the windows.
During firefighting operations, a firefighter on the roof fell through after a section gave way, prompting a mayday call and a second alarm response.
Officials said the firefighter landed inside the burning home but was quickly located and rescued by fellow crews. The firefighter was evaluated by EMS and was not injured.
No civilians were reported hurt, and no occupants were located inside the home during the fire.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
