Firefighter Burned in Possible Arson Fire
INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 1230am 8-7-25
LOCATION: 4114 Botany
AREA/CITY: Houston
DETAILS:
- An HFD engine returning from a call saw a column of smoke and followed it
- Firefighters located a single story residence with fire showing and filled out a full first alarm assignment for the house fire
- Firefighters went to work on the flames, making entry and doing primary search for a reported resident still inside
- As conditions worsened, HFD captain ordered firefighters to exit
- 1 could not exit, and a mayday was struck
- he managed to climb out of the window to safety
- The firefighter was transported to a local hospital reportedly in stable condition with burns
- Cause and origin are under investigation, but HPD has one male in custody who reportedly set the hose on fire
- Neighbors told me off camera that the resident was being evicted and set the fire as retribution, but no confirmation available
