Fire Tornado Spotted Among Large Flames At the Japatul Valley Fire

Firefighters continued to battle massive flames at the Japatul Valley Fire as the fire acreage was increased to 9,850 acres. Eleven structures were reported destroyed as more communities were issued evacuation notices. Governor Newsom declared a state of emergency for San Diego County due to the Valley Fire, allowing for expanded access to emergency services and use of the National Guard if needed. Fire containment continues to remain at 1%.
