Fire in Good Hope Consumes over 250 Acres Before Containment

GOOD HOPE (CNS) – A brush fire in Good Hope charred a total of 264 acres before it was completely contained, officials confirmed Friday.

The Post Fire was reported at 3:53 p.m. Wednesday in the area of Post Road and Gardenias Street, about two miles west of the Perris Raceway, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The brusher was declared 100% contained around nightfall Thursday. Crews were continuing to mop up and patrol containment lines Friday, amid temperatures approaching 110 degrees in the Perris Valley at noon.

At the peak of the blaze, six Cal Fire air tankers and three water-dropping helicopters were making runs on it.

One firefighter suffered an undisclosed minor injury and required treatment at the scene, but he apparently was not hospitalized.

An evacuation warning was issued late Wednesday afternoon for properties in the lightly populated area south of Santa Rosa Mine Road, north of Gardenias, west of Post, and east of Christmas Tree Lane.

The fire’s forward rate of spread was halted a few hours later.

The cause of the blaze was under investigation.
