Fiery Head On Crash Entraps Driver In Wreckage | Running Springs

01.11.2022 | 3:30 PM | RUNNING SPRINGS – At Approximately 3:30 PM First Responders were dispatched to reports of a traffic collision with fire and someone possibly trapped. Upon arriving on scene fire fighters found 2 vehicles with major damage, one vehicle was well involved on fire, and the other vehicle was catching fire with a victim trapped inside. Fire Fighters quickly began to attack the flames and work on extricating the trapped victim. The victim was successfully extricated and transported to a nearby hospital via ambulance. The other vehicle continued to catch on fire repeatedly and gave fire fighters a bit of a challenge extinguishing the blaze as oil and grease continued to re-ignite. The cause of the Traffic collision is still under investigation and it is unknown if the victim that lost control of his vehicle was under the influence or not. CHP had highway 18 shut down in both directions for almost 2 hours causing major traffic back ups that reportedly stretched for miles. No further details are known at this time.
