Fiery Freeway Crash Ignites Brush Fire in Chatsworth
09.29.2020 | 3:45 AM | CHATSWORTH – Firefighters responded to a vehicle fire with extension to the brush at the Westbound CA-118 at Rocky Peak Tuesday morning.
It was first reported just after 3:45 AM, in which a vehicle reportedly crashed into a semi truck before bursting into flames.
When crews arrived, they found the car was resting against the hillside, which sparked a small brush fire.
Firefighters made a quick attack and were able to contain the flames despite the fire being wind driven.
The female driver of the sedan suffered serious injuries and was transported to Holy Cross Medical center. The driver of the semi truck was uninjured.
It is unclear what led to the crash, as CHP West Valley continues their investigation into what led to it.
All westbound lanes except the HOV lane were shut down into the morning commute.
