DETAILS:
- A stabbing occurred at a residence in the 1600 block of West Alabama just after 2 a.m.
- A 71-year-old male was transported to a local hospital with a significant stab wound near the shoulder area.
- The victim was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.
- A 53-year-old female, believed to be the suspect, was taken into custody.
- Officers were familiar with the location due to previous disturbance calls related to family-type disturbances.
- Responding officers found the male victim down and bleeding at the scene.
- Additional officers arriving at the location encountered the female suspect on foot after she had left the residence.
- Witnesses stated that the female suspect had an ongoing dating relationship with the victim and did not live at the residence full-time.
- The argument leading to the stabbing reportedly started over the female being too loud while making food.
