Fatal Wrong-Way Crash | Houston
03.14.2022 | 2:24 AM | HOUSTON – HPD units are investigating a fatal crash on the southbound Gulf Freeway just passed Scott St. It was reported a Toyota Corolla was traveling the wrong way in southbound lanes of the gulf freeway. The wrong was driver struck a black Nissan that was traveling southbound on the Gulf Freeway. The momentum of that crashed caused the wrong way vehicle to become disable several 100 yards from the impact in the number one lane of the southbound lanes. The Nissan had side driver side damage. That vehicle had two occupants and no one had any injuries. They remained at the scene. The wrong way driver exited his vehicle in moving lanes of traffic on the southbound lanes. At the same time a black Buick sedan was traveling from the southbound 59 to the southbound Gulf freeway. The Buick was traveling at a high rate of speed and weaving in and out of traffic per witnesses. The Buick then crashed into the disable Toyota Corolla and the driver that was out of the vehicle. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Buick admitted to drinking to officers. He was transported by ambulance for some injuries.
