Fatal Vehicle Collision and Fire in Irvine – Barranca Pkwy Closed

 

INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 9/24/23 8:35 p.m.
LOCATION: Vertical & Barranca Pkwy
CITY: Irvine
DETAILS: One person is dead after their vehicle collided with a light signal and burst into flames.  The crash occurred just after 8:30 p.m. at the intersection of Vertical & Barranca Pkwy. in Irvine. Units from the Orange County Fire Authority arrived shortly thereafter to find the vehicle fully involved with fire.  Unfortunately after putting out the fire, firefighters found one person deceased in the vehicle.  The Irvine Police Department has Barranca Pkwy. closed in both directions starting at Marine Wy. to Alton Pkwy. and ask the public to use alternate routes for the next several hours to complete their investigation.
