Fatal SR-163 Ejection Crash

Solo Vehicle Roll-Over Crash on State Route 163 Results in Fatality
San Diego, CA- On Sunday, May 5, 2024, at approximately 4:05 a.m., an
18-year-old male from Perris, CA was driving a Nissan Maxima on State Route
163 (SR-163) southbound, north of Friars Road. For reasons under investigation,
the Nissan veered off the roadway and crashed with a tree. The force of the crash
caused the Nissan to overturn, ejecting the driver. The driver, who was the sole
occupant, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene. A
toxicology report is pending through the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s
Office to determine if alcohol/and or drugs were a factor in the crash. All traffic
lanes of SR-163 southbound, north of Friars Road remained open throughout the
on-scene investigation.
