Fatal Shooting Near Suspected Game Room In Houston

A man was found shot to death behind a row of businesses in Houston Sunday evening following a reported altercation possibly connected to a suspected illegal game room.

The shooting was reported around 7 p.m. on September 27, 2026, in the 12400 block of Veterans Memorial Drive.
According to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, deputies responded to reports of a shooting and discovered a man with possible gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary information indicates the victim, believed to be approximately 40 years old, was found in an alley behind several businesses near Fredy Bar & Grill, where a suspected illegal game room was reportedly operating.
Investigators believe an altercation may have begun at the suspected game room, although they had not determined whether the shooting occurred inside or outside the business.

The initial 911 call was reportedly made anonymously, and the caller was no longer at the location when deputies arrived. No witnesses were present when deputies initially responded.

Harris County Sheriff’s Office homicide detectives and crime scene investigators responded to process the scene and investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

The victim’s identity had not been released, and no information regarding potential suspects or arrests was immediately available.
