Fatal Major Injury Accident, Motorcycle vs Van | Riverside
02.24.2022 | 2:12 PM | RIVERSIDE – RIVERSIDE, CA – On Thursday, February 24, 2022 at approximately 2:12 p.m., the City of Riverside’s Public Safety Communications Center received a call of a traffic collision involving a vehicle verses a motorcyclist in the area of Orange Street and University Avenue. Riverside Police and Fire personnel responded to the scene. The unidentified adult male motorcyclist sustained major injuries and was transported to Riverside Community Hospital by ambulance where he succumbed to his injuries. The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2016 Ford Transit Connect Van, being driven by a 23-year-old Riverside County resident, was traveling westbound University Avenue and crossed paths with a motorcyclist traveling eastbound University Avenue. Both vehicles collided within the intersection of University Avenue and Orange Street. The driver stopped and was cooperative during the investigation and was not injured. The identity of the deceased is pending the Coroner’s investigation. At this time it is unknown if drugs and/or alcohol were contributing factors.
