Fatal High Speed Crash Into Stranded Motorist, Houston, TX

LOCATION: East Freeway (I-10) just before Wayside (eastbound lanes)

UPDATED INFO: From Sgt. Dallas via phone: Driver is now determined to not be impaired. Speed may have been over the speed limit (TBD) but at this time it is believed to not be excessive/egregious.

1. Houston Police received a call regarding a stalled blue Nissan in the eastbound lanes of I-10 in the second lane.
2. A Jeep, believed to be driving at a high rate of speed, struck the rear of the Nissan.
3. The driver of the blue Nissan was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Houston Fire Department.
4. The driver of the Jeep is being evaluated for possible intoxication or impairment. Charges will depend on the outcome of that evaluation.
5. Age of victim is unknown at this time.
