Fatal E Scooter Rider Hits Crack On City Sidewalk In Downey, CA

 

INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 9:24 am 8-6-25
LOCATION: Imperial HWY / Columbia Way
AREA/CITY: Downey
DETAILS:

1. Downey PD responded to a call of a man covered in blood down on the sidewalk next to a scooter.
2. Officers arrived and started CPR but were not successful and requested a canopy.
3. Downey fire arrived at the scene and utilized the Lucas CPR machine to try to save the man. They loaded the man into the ambulance and transported the man to the hospital, not breathing or conscious.
4. A crack on the city sidewalk is believed to be the cause of the accident at this time.
