Fatal, Car Into Pole On The Freeway, MEAD VALLEY, CA

DETAILS:
- California Highway Patrol and Riverside County Fire Department, responded to a reported Tesla that slammed into a pole and was starting on fire.
- Firefighters quickly arrived and were able to knock down the fire and pronounced the lone occupant in the car deceased.
- According to a witness and CHP Cad (Inland 0104), the driver was trying to exit the vehicle after the car hit the pole.
- According to CHP, the car veered off the freeway at a high rate of speed and slammed into the pole.
- Because the car is a electric vehicle, environmental health was requested to assist with the hazardous battery fire and water flow from the run off.
- It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash, but speed does appear to be a factor.
- A SIG Alert was issued for an unknown duration and only one lane remains open at this time
