Fast Moving Porter Fire Destroys a Truck and Trailer

WOODCREST – A brush fire that erupted Thursday in a Woodcrest neighborhood scorched over two acres and consumed an outbuilding before it was contained.

The non-injury “Porter Fire” was reported just after 1 p.m. Thursday in the 16000 block of Porter Avenue, near Iris Avenue, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The agency said that multiple engine crews from the county and Riverside Fire Department were sent to the location and encountered flames moving at a moderate rate toward properties.

Firefighters prevented the fire from reaching the residences, though an outbuilding on the perimeter of one property was destroyed, according to officials at the scene.

The blaze’s forward rate of spread was halted about 1:40 p.m., and full containment was achieved just after 2 p.m.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
