Fast & Furious Mustang Predictably Crashes | San Diego
10.10.2021 | 9:45 AM | SAN DIEGO – Police and Fire received reports of a major crash with one vehicle involved.
When officers arrived, they found several people who left the scene immediately.
A fire hydrant, 2 water lines, a street sign, and an electrical junction box along with a tree had been hit by a car.
The car was not present.
A witness came out and told the Police that there were people racing on the street and that it was a Mustang doing well over 120 mph that had the accident.
He also told the Police that the owner of the car tried to tow the car with his truck and trailer, but got stuck on the one-way La Media Rd.
Officer went to La Media Rd and found some people who immediately fled the scene in their cars.
The driver of the truck left his truck, the trailer, and wrecked Ford Mustang and fled, leaving his keys in the ignition.
The Ford Mustang was not street legal and was modified for racing. The car had racing slicks for tires and nitrous oxide for the gas line.
Firefighters were able to shut off the 60 ft geyser from the fire hydrant, but could not shut off the other two waterlines.
The driver of the car apparently lost control when he hit the nitrous oxide (to have the car go faster), and hit the hydrant and the electrical box, spun and hit the tree with his rear end, and then hit the two water lines.
This info came from the witness to the Police.
A male that was involved in the racing came back to see what was currently going on and the Police spoke with him and he was allowed to leave. The male told the Police that the Mustang was capable of going 1/4 mile in 8 seconds.
It’s not known if there were any injuries.
This industrial area in Otay Mesa is known for illegal racing and motorcyclist coming to do their trick and stunt riding, with the Police often having to chase the racers off.\The water was still flowing over 90 minutes after the initial crash.
The truck and Mustang were impounded by the Police.
The truck is registered to a Sacramento address and there are several car shows this weekend in San Diego County.
