Explosive Detonates Inside Church | El Monte

01.23.2021 | 1:13 AM | EL MONTE – Just after 1 AM Saturday Morning, reports of a possible explosion were made to El Monte Police and the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

A nearby officer with the EMPD reported hearing the explosion and reported light smoke coming from the church at the North East corner of N Tyler Avenue and Elliott Avenue.

The arriving officer found glass from a window of the church strewn across Tyler Avenue.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Bomb Squad was dispatched to the scene because they believed there may be a secondary device inside.
