Explosions Heard During Massive Warehouse Fire
At approximately 1:30am on April 2nd, 2026, Houston Fire Department crews responded to a major warehouse fire at Electronic Scrap Recycling Inc. on Springer Street in Houston.
Upon arrival, firefighters encountered a fully involved structure fire inside a building filled with recycled computers. Officials said the materials inside the warehouse caused loud “booms” and “bangs” as the fire burned.
Approximately 60 firefighters and 15 units responded, utilizing a defensive firefighting strategy with hand lines, deck guns, and aerial ladders.
Crews worked to prevent the fire from spreading to a nearby building containing tires, successfully keeping the flames from extending.
The business was closed at the time, and no civilian or firefighter injuries were reported. As of early morning hours, crews continued to monitor the scene, with no visible flames but ongoing suppression efforts.
The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
