Escondido: Pedestrian Critically Injured After Hit & Run Crash

07.15.2019 | 10:00 PM | ESCONDIDO – A pedestrian was critically injured after being struck by a hit-and-run driver, Monday night.

Authorities responded to reports of a traffic collision involving a pedestrian near the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and Ash Street around 10:00 PM.

Units arriving on scene located a pedestrian down in the roadway suffering from major trauma after being struck by a vehicle.

Firefighter paramedics treated the victim on scene before transporting them to Palomar Hospital in critical condition.

Initial reports indicate that the driver of the vehicle that struck the pedestrian failed to stop and render aid, instead fleeing the scene of the collision.

All lanes of northbound Ash Street were closed while officers collected evidence from the scene of the crash.
