Elderly Man Struck And Killed By Hit And Run Driver

DETAILS:

  1. According to LAPD Traffic officers an elderly man in his 80’s was struck and killed at the intersection of 6th St and Western Ave around 6:06 this morning.
  2. The suspect that struck the victim fled the scene in an unknown make and model vehicle.
  3. LAPD officers have not found any witnesses but are working on acquiring CCTV footage from nearby businesses.
  4. The victim’s cane can be seen on top of the hood of a patrol car.
  5. Many elderly people live in this area and can be seen walking all over it.
  6. Police are looking for anyone who might have witnessed the incident as they have none at this time. Any witnesses should contact crime stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS
  7. The pedestrian was crossing westbound on Western Avenue at Seventh
    Street inside a crosswalk and was struck by a light gray or blue 2004-06 Acura
    MDX at around 6 a.m.
  8. Police said the vehicle was traveling northbound on Western and continued
    toward Fourth Street without stopping to render aid.
  9.  Detectives presume that the vehicle sustained damage on the front
    right passenger side. The name of the victim was being withheld, pending notification of
    relatives.
  10. The city of Los Angeles is offering a reward of up to $50,000 for
    information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of the
    suspect.
