Elderly Man Struck And Killed By Hit And Run Driver

- According to LAPD Traffic officers an elderly man in his 80’s was struck and killed at the intersection of 6th St and Western Ave around 6:06 this morning.
- The suspect that struck the victim fled the scene in an unknown make and model vehicle.
- LAPD officers have not found any witnesses but are working on acquiring CCTV footage from nearby businesses.
- The victim’s cane can be seen on top of the hood of a patrol car.
- Many elderly people live in this area and can be seen walking all over it.

- The pedestrian was crossing westbound on Western Avenue at Seventh
Street inside a crosswalk and was struck by a light gray or blue 2004-06 Acura
MDX at around 6 a.m. - Police said the vehicle was traveling northbound on Western and continued
toward Fourth Street without stopping to render aid. - Detectives presume that the vehicle sustained damage on the front
right passenger side. The name of the victim was being withheld, pending notification of
relatives. - The city of Los Angeles is offering a reward of up to $50,000 for
information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of the
suspect.
