Echo Park: Woman Killed, Husband Injured By Hit & Run Driver (Caught On Camera)

02.24.2020 | 12:52 AM | LOS ANGELES – A 58-year-old woman was killed and her 71-year-old husband was seriously injured after being struck and dragged by a hit and run driver as they crossed a street, early Monday morning.

Authorities responded to reports of a traffic collision involving two pedestrians down on Sunset Boulevard just east of White Knoll Drive in the Echo Park area around 12:52 AM.

Units arriving on scene located a male and a female down in the roadway and a number of good samaritans attempting to provide aid.

Firefighter paramedics treated both victims on scene before transporting them to an area hospital where the female succumbed to her injuries.

The female victim was later identified as 58-year-old Morena Del Carmen Alvarado-Lopez. The male she was with was identified as her 71-year-old husband.

The driver that struck the couple fled without stopping after dragging the pair for about 50 feet.

The suspect vehicles was described only as a red or burgundy four-door passenger car.
