Eagle Rock Coach Killed In Violent Rollover Crash
A man killed in a violent rollover crash early Saturday morning in Eagle Rock has been identified by family and community members as Erik, a coach associated with Eagle Rock High School.
The crash occurred at approximately 4:00 a.m. on August 1, 2026, near Colorado Boulevard and Linda Rosa Avenue.
According to information from the scene, Erik was driving a pickup truck when he lost control, struck a fire hydrant and rolled approximately three times. The truck came to rest with Erik pinned underneath. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The damaged hydrant sent water shooting into the air as Los Angeles Police Department officers investigated the crash.
Several of Erik’s family members, including his daughters and sisters, arrived at the scene. One of his daughters said he had been on his way home from work when the crash occurred.
Since video of the incident was originally posted, numerous people identifying themselves as former students and athletes coached by Erik have left messages remembering him and expressing their sadness over his death.
It is unclear whether Erik was still actively coaching at Eagle Rock High School at the time of the crash.
The circumstances that caused him to lose control remain under investigation.
