E/A-18 Growler Navy Jet Crashes into San Diego

INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 2-12-25 10:15 am approx
LOCATION: Shelter Island
AREA/CITY: San Diego
DETAILS:

  1. An  E/A-18G (Growler) crashed into San Diego Bay for unknown reasons.
  2. The plane took off from NAS North Island across the bay from Shelter Island, and according to a witness, it sounded like it was having engine problems.
  3. There is rain and heavy mist in the area.
  4. The pilot and radar operator were rescued by a civilian fishing boat, the Premiere.
  5. The military personnel were transferred to a U.S. Border Patrol and taken to the SD Harbor Police station.
  6. Both men were transported to a local hospital in unknown condition.
