DUI Suspect Leads Two-Hour Pursuit Across San Diego
A suspected DUI driver led law enforcement on a lengthy pursuit across San Diego County during the early morning hours of June 11, 2026.
The pursuit began on the westbound 8 Freeway near Lake Jennings when California Highway Patrol officers attempted to stop the vehicle.
Over the course of more than two hours, officers pursued the suspect through multiple areas of the county as spike strips were deployed several times in an effort to bring the chase to an end.
Despite suffering significant tire damage, the driver continued fleeing and at one point was reportedly operating the vehicle with only a single functional tire remaining.
The pursuit eventually entered downtown San Diego, where the suspect drove onto rail tracks near the City College Transit Station and became stuck.
Officers converged on the vehicle near Park Boulevard and Broadway as a K9 unit was deployed to assist with the arrest.
San Diego Fire-Rescue personnel were also requested to the scene following the conclusion of the pursuit.
Additional details regarding the suspect and potential charges have not yet been released.
