DUI Suspect Crashes Into Carlsbad Home During Pursuit
A suspected DUI driver was taken into custody after leading police on a pursuit and crashing into the front gate of a Carlsbad home Sunday night.
At approximately 9:48 p.m. on August 17, 2026, authorities received reports of a possible impaired driver near the Carlsbad-Encinitas border.
About seven minutes later, Carlsbad Police officers located the vehicle along Carlsbad Boulevard and attempted a traffic stop. The driver allegedly refused to stop, prompting a pursuit.
The chase eventually reached the 2600 block of Highland Drive, where the suspect crashed into the front gate of a residence.
A brief standoff followed the collision as fire crews were requested to stage nearby.
The female driver was eventually taken into custody and transported to a local hospital for evaluation.
No additional information regarding possible charges or whether anyone else was injured was immediately available.
