DUI Driver Fleeing Wreck Crashes Into House | Encinitas

06.05.2022 | 1:57 AM | ENCINITAS – The male driver of the Acura rear-ended a Tesla being driven by a female. She and her companions were stopped at a red light at Vulcan & D St. The driver of the Acura then took off. The female pursued the male and he eventually made his way southbound on Stratford Dr. He didn’t stop at the Stop sign at Santa Fe Dr and crossed the street, going into the front yard of the house at high speed. The Acura hit a tree, the house, the gas meter/line, and a fence. The male got out of the vehicle yelling “I need to go to jail!” to the female and her companions. The gas line was leaking but the firefighters were able to turn it off quickly. There were also reports of flooding inside the house. The driver had minor injuries but did not want to be transported to a local hospital. The male was arrested by the deputies. He is facing “DUI” and “Hit & Run” charges.
