Ducklings Rescued From Freeway By CHP

INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 2- 27-25, 8:52 a.m.
LOCATION: EB 91 and Mission Inn
AREA/CITY: Riverside
DETAILS:

  1. California Highway Patrol, Riverside Office, received reports of a mama duck and four to five baby ducklings on the freeway in the center divide.
  2. An officer was dispatched, and he and I were able to catch all of the ducklings and put them in a box. Animal control has been notified and is en route.
  3. Several people left their vehicles to assist in catching the ducks
  4. The mama duckling flew away, but it has been reported that the baby ducks were let go at Fairmount Park in Riverside.
  5. CHP closed the entire eastbound 91 freeway at Mission Inn for about 30 minutes while we caught the ducks.
