Drunk Driver Rear Ends Hummer, Killing One

On September 20,2025, at 2336 hours , Vehicle 1 (a Nissan) and Vehicle 2 (a Hummer) were both traveling northbound on Kiowa Road. Vehicle 1 rear-ended Vehicle 2, causing Vehicle 2 to lose control.
Both occupants of Vehicle 2 sustained injuries and were transported to medical facilities for treatment. Tragically, one of the occupants of Vehicle 2 has since passed away. We are currently awaiting an update on the condition of the second occupant.
The driver of Vehicle 1, identified as Exon Herrera-Herandez (11/29/2001), was arrested at the scene. He has been booked into HDDC (High Desert Detention Center) for the following charges:
VC 23153 – Driving Under the Influence Causing Injury
PC 191.5 – Gross Vehicular Manslaughter While Intoxicated
This incident remains under investigation.

- A person who arrived on scene after hearing the collision stated another car with damage left the scene (unconfirmed)
