Drunk Driver Kills Innocent Driver

OFFICERS ARREST SUSPECT IN FATAL TRAFFIC COLLISIONANAHEIM, Calif. (February 17, 2025) –
Anaheim Police officers have arrested Samantha Farris, a 29-year-old Buena Park woman, on suspicion of DUI during a fatal traffic collision.
On February 16, 2025, at approximately 10:00 p.m., Anaheim Police officers and Anaheim Fire & Rescue personnel responded to the intersection of Magnolia Ave and Broadway regarding a traffic collision. Upon arrival, they discovered a woman in a red crossover SUV who was trapped inside her vehicle. Heavy rescue equipment was used to extract the driver, who was then transported to the hospital. Despite life-saving measures, she was pronounced deceased at the hospital approximately one hour after the collision.
The other vehicle involved in the collision was a white Volkswagen sedan. The driver of that vehicle was also transported to the hospital for medical evaluation. She was identified as Samantha Farris. Officers conducted their investigation and determined Ms. Farris made a left turn in front of the victim at the intersection of Broadway and Magnolia Avenue. Witnesses reported that Ms. Farris may have been drinking alcohol at a nearby business just before the collision. A DUI investigation was conducted by the officers, and there was probable cause to believe that Ms. Farris had been operating a motor vehicle in an unsafe manner while intoxicated. Ms. Farris was placed under arrest for felony Driving Under the Influence and Gross Vehicular Manslaughter. She was booked at the Anaheim Police Department after she was medically cleared from the hospital. Ms. Farris posted bail on Monday, February 17, 2025. The case will be filed through the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.The identity of the victim driver will not be released at this time pending confirmation by the Orange County Sheriff-Coroner’s office and next-of-kin notification. The victim is believed to be a 56-year-old Long Beach resident.The investigation is still ongoing.
