Driver Trapped As Hydrant Erupts After Crash In Azusa

At approximately 1:31 a.m. on April 18, 2026, emergency crews responded to a traffic collision at West Foothill Boulevard and North Todd Avenue in Azusa.

Responding units located an overturned vehicle with the driver trapped inside after a crash that also sheared a fire hydrant, sending water approximately 40 feet into the air. A nearby light pole was also knocked down.

Firefighters worked to extricate the driver as water from the ruptured hydrant flooded the vehicle and surrounding roadway. The driver was removed and transported to a local hospital in unknown condition.

Authorities shut down westbound lanes of Foothill Boulevard as crews worked to control the flooding and clear the scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
