Driver Seriously Injured After Flying Off Roadway | San Diego

04.29.2022 | 10:12 AM | SAN DIEGO – The male driver of the vehicle was westbound on Grand Ave. The driver lost control of the vehicle for unknown reasons and left the roadway on the right shoulder. The vehicle hit a streetlight, and continued down the sidewalk, hitting a bus bench and slightly hitting a parked truck. The vehicle then got airborne as it went off the ledge above Bond St. The vehicle may have flipped at this point according to witness statements to the Police. The vehicle landed on its wheels after hitting an electrical junction box. When Good Samaritans went to the aid of the driver, he was reportedly unconscious. Firefighters extricated the male and he was transported to a local hospital with serious unknown injuries. The SDPD Traffic Division is investigating.
