Deputies arriving at the scene located an SUV and a pickup truck involved in the crash. One occupant (driver of the SUV) was confirmed deceased by EMS.

The SUV was traveling westbound on Atascocita Road when it lost control while going through a curve.

The SUV veered into the eastbound lanes and was struck head-on by a pickup truck traveling in the opposite direction.

The driver of the SUV, (at-fault driver) described as a Black male in his late 60s, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The pickup truck was occupied by a father and his 8-year-old child. Both sustained minor injuries and were transported to the hospital for evaluation.

There is evidence suggesting the deceased SUV driver may have been drinking prior to the crash.
