Driver Miraculously Survives High Speed Extrication Crash | Fontana
04.29.2022 | 2:02 AM | FONTANA – Authorities responded to reports of a traffic collision with someone trapped.
First responders arrived on scene and located a single vehicle with severe damage, and one male trapped in the vehicle requiring extrication.
The driver was miraculously found to be alive and talking to the first responders.
Additional fire resources were dispatched to start a lengthy extrication process.
Firefighters were able to free the injured victim in approximately 30 minutes.
The patient was loaded into the ambulance for further evaluation.
A Fontana PD drug and alcohol specialist officer did an assessment on the patient due to him being alert and oriented, and determined the victim did not seem to be under the influence of alcohol.
The victim told first responders that he had just gone through a breakup with his girlfriend, and was trying to leave the area.
The victim was then transported to a local area hospital with multiple injuries.
The driver’s pet dog was also ejected from the vehicle during the crash, and was pronounced deceased.
A significant amount of the victim’s belongings such as dog toys and clothes were found scattered throughout the car.
The incident is still under investigation, but officers determine the driver was traveling at a high rate of speed prior to the crash.
