Driver Killed in Two Car Crash in Lemon Grove

DETAILS:
- The driver of a Waste Management truck and the male driver of a Ford Explorer collided as they were driving west on Hwy 94.
- The Waste Management truck struck the center divider, went up and over the wall, and landed on the left shoulder, facing the wrong way on eastbound Highway 94.
- The Ford Explorer hit the wall and flipped, landing on its side.
- A male was seen getting out of the Ford and running across the eastbound lanes, leaving the scene.
- The driver was trapped inside.
- The firefighters worked for over 30 minutes to extricate the male from the vehicle.
- He was talking at first but then became unresponsive.
- When he was taken out of the wreckage, CPR was started.
- He was pronounced deceased at Mercy Hospital.
- A SIG ALERT was declared for the incident.
- There was a male who claimed to be a witness, but the CHP suspected he might be the person who had run away.
The male who claimed to be a witness called for Paramedics at the ARCO gas station on Massachusetts Ave. As the CHP first believed, he was in the Ford when it crashed, and initially fled he scene, he was transported to a hospital
