Driver Killed In Fiery Highway 99 Crash

One person was killed after a vehicle went off Highway 99, struck a pillar and burst into flames Monday night in Cypress.

At approximately 8:47 p.m. on August 24, 2026, deputies responded to Highway 99 near Longenbough Road following reports of a single-vehicle crash.

According to HCSO Deputy Ajayi, the vehicle was traveling southbound on Highway 99 at a high rate of speed when it went off the elevated highway and struck a pillar below.

The vehicle came to rest on Longenbough Road, where it became engulfed in flames.

The sole occupant of the vehicle did not survive the crash.

Authorities were unable to immediately determine the victim’s age or gender, and no identifying license plates or identification had been recovered at the time information was provided from the scene.

The vehicle was described as either a sedan or SUV, but its make, model and color could not immediately be determined due to the severity of the fire.

No witnesses to the crash had been located, and investigators had not determined the vehicle’s exact speed.

The circumstances leading up to the fatal crash remain under investigation.
