At approximately 11:45pm on March 7th, 2026, Houston Police Department officers responded to a single-vehicle crash near 4700 South Loop East along the 610 Freeway in Houston.
Authorities stated the vehicle was traveling outbound on the freeway when it lost control for unknown reasons. The vehicle struck the center concrete barrier, left the freeway, and ultimately crashed into a tree.
The impact left the vehicle wrapped around the tree, and the driver was ejected from the vehicle during the crash. The driver, believed to be in his late 30s, was transported to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Officials confirmed only one vehicle and one occupant were involved in the crash. It was not immediately known whether impairment played a role in the collision.
The investigation remained ongoing.
