Driver Killed After Slamming into Back of Semi-Trailer

DETAILS:
- On July 16th, 2025, just before midnight, CHP, Riverside City Fire, and AMR responded to a reported traffic collision on the Westbound 91 Freeway at La Sierra Avenue in Riverside.
- Riverside City Fire arrived at the scene and located a small sedan that had crashed into the rear of a semi-trailer and was wedged more than halfway under.
- Firefighters requested a truck for extrication, but it was canceled.
- The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.
- It’s unknown if there were additional victims inside the vehicle.
- The semi driver was uninjured and stated that he was stopped on the right-hand shoulder of the freeway to fix lights and was rear-ended.
- CHP has requested that CalTrans respond and close the slow lane while they investigate the collision.
