LOCATION: Westbound Katy Freeway @ Greenhouse
AREA/CITY: Houston
DETAILS:
- HPD and HFD responded to reports of a crash with a party trapped
- Arriving companies located a white SUV that struck the back of a big rig in the right shoulder
- driver and lone occupant was trapped inside the vehicle
- HFD extricated the patient, but he succumbed to his injuries on the scene
- All Westbound main lanes of Katy Freeway are closed for the duration of the investigation
- Prelim info- The driver was traveling at a high rate of speed with their hazards on when they left the roadway and struck the proper barrier
- The vehicle continued on before striking the back of the big rig
- The driver of big rig is uninjured
- There are no reports of other vehicles involved
- Speed is believed to be a factor, but VCD is working to determine exactly what occurred leading up to and during the crash.
- Truck Enforcement is en route to ensure the Big rig is driveable and the condition of the trailer.
