Driver Killed After Making Illegal U-Turn in Front of Semi | Otay Mesa

10.20.2021 | 8:16 AM | OTAY MESA – The male driver of the Big rig with 2 Dirt Trailers was westbound on Otay Mesa rd.

Two vehicles were on the right shoulder when they both started to make illegal U-tuns from the westbound to eastbound traffic lanes.

The first car made the turn, the second driver did not as the truck slammed into the car.

Firefighters attempted to extricate the driver, but he was pronounced deceased immediately.

The other car kept going and never returned.

The driver of the truck while badly shaken was not injured.

The deceased male appears to be in his 20’s.

The heavily traveled Otay Mesa Rd is closed from Sanyo Rd to the I-905 for the investigation will be closed for several hours.
