Driver Killed After Fiery Toll Plaza Crash In Houston

A driver was killed after a single-vehicle crash that ended in flames at the Sam Houston Parkway Central Toll Plaza late Monday night in Houston.

At approximately 11:45 p.m. on July 21, 2026, Harris County Precinct 5 deputies responded to a reported crash at the Sam Houston Central Toll Plaza located at 6121 West Sam Houston Parkway North.

According to Precinct 5 officials, a single vehicle struck the toll plaza before catching fire.

The lone occupant of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses reported hearing the impact before seeing the vehicle engulfed in flames as emergency crews responded.

Authorities have not determined what caused the crash. Investigators say it is too early to know whether speed played a role in the collision.
