Driver Fatally Strikes Pedestrian And Leaves

Phoenix Police and fire crews from the cities of Phoenix and Glendale responded to reports of a vehicle vs pedestrian collision.

Units arrived to find an unresponsive adult male pedestrian in the eastbound lanes of Thunderbird Road near 40th Drive.

The pedestrian was pronounced deceased on scene by fire personnel.

Phoenix Police have confirmed that the driver who struck the pedestrian did not remain on scene.

A hard closure has been established for west Thunderbird Road spanning from the 4200 block to the 3900 block.

The closure is expected to remain in place for several hours while Phoenix Police Vehicular Crimes Unit detectives investigate the collision.
