Driver Ejected After Car Flies Off Freeway

DETAILS:

1. A SDPD officer witnessed the car’s male driver leave the freeway and crash into a road construction site.
2. The vehicle hit a guardrail and several trenches before the car became airborne.
3. The driver was ejected into a fence, as the car hit the fence and landed in a storm channel next to a San Diego City Public Works Yard.
4. When the driver was found, he was unconscious, and the officers started 1st aid.
5. The male was intoxicated and became belligerent, claiming he wasn’t driving the car, and was just standing and then sleeping at the scene.
6. The male was transported to a local hospital for his injuries.
7. Pershing Dr was closed at the northbound I-5 for approx 1 hour.
