Driver Dead After Slamming Into Back Of Stopped Semi Truck

According to California Highway Patrol, Riverside office, On July 16, 2024, at approximately 0208 hours, Inland Communication Center (ICC) broadcasted the report of a crash that occurred on northbound Interstate 215, north of State Route 60. The drivers of a 2014 Kenworth tractor and a 2023 Nissan sedan were stopped in traffic due to multiple collisions ahead on the freeway. The driver of a 2009 Mercury SUV for unknown reasons failed to see stopped traffic ahead and crashed into the rear of the semi and into the back of the Nissan sedan. The driver of the Mercury SUV was pronounced deceased by Fire Department personnel prior to CHP arrival.
