Driver Crashes After Running DUI Checkpoint | Imperial Beach

09.03.2021 | 9:45 AM | IMPERIAL BEACH – The male driver of the Mercedes ran the DUI Checkpoint that the SDSO was conducting at Palm Ave & 9th St. The male turned onto southbound 9th St and the Deputies started to pursue the male. The male attempted to turn into an alley and crashed into the black car that was parked, which in turn was pushed into 2 trucks that were also parked. The suspect fled on foot west towards the CVS store on Pam Ave and the ASTREA helicopter is helping in the search. The suspect is a black male in his 30’s wearing long dreds as a hairstyle.
