Driver Arrested After High-Speed Chase on I-5 in Carlsbad

INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 2-10-26 1:10 am
LOCATION: Tamarack & I-5
AREA/CITY: Carlsbad
DETAILS:

  1. At around 1:10 a.m., a Carlsbad Police officer observed a vehicle make an unsafe lane change and attempted a traffic stop.
  2. The driver failed to yield and fled, entering northbound I-5 from Cannon Rd.
  3.  During the pursuit, the vehicle reached speeds of approximately 120 MPH.
  4. The driver exited at Carlsbad Village Dr, re-entered southbound I-5, exited again at Cannon Rd, then re-entered northbound I-5 before exiting eastbound Tamarack Ave.
  5.  The pursuing officer lost sight of the vehicle northbound near Pio Pico.
  6. While multiple officers searched the area, the vehicle was later located at the Mobile gas station.
  7. A felony stop was conducted, and the driver was taken into custody.
  8. There is no additional information at this time.
