Driver Arrested After Crashing Into Fire Truck In Riverside

At approximately 2:45 a.m. on May 1, 2026, a vehicle crashed into the rear of a fire truck on the eastbound 91 Freeway offramp at Indiana Avenue in Riverside.

Officials say the fire truck had come to a stop at a red light when a red Tesla failed to slow down and collided with the rear of the apparatus.

Firefighters initially believed the driver was trapped, but were able to safely remove him from the vehicle.

The driver was not injured and was later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

No firefighters were injured in the crash, though the fire truck sustained significant damage and was taken out of service.

The investigation remains ongoing.
