Downey: Suspect Crashes Into House Injuring Resident While Fleeing Police

12.30.2019 | 12:00 AM | DOWNEY – A suspect was in custody after fleeing from police and eventually crashing into an apartment building injuring a resident inside, early Monday morning.

Officers from the Buena Park Park Police Department attempted to stop a block Chevrolet pickup truck occupied by two suspects shortly before midnight.

The driver of the pickup failed to yield and fled eastbound on Florence Avenue before turning onto Wiley Burke Avenue and crashing into a home in Downey at 12:00 AM.

Both suspects were quickly apprehended without further incident.

An occupant inside the building that was struck suffered injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Building officials are expected to evaluate the structural integrity of the apartment building.
