Double Shooting Suspect in Custody after Pursuit

Phoenix Police and Phoenix Fire crews responded to reports of a 2 people shot inside a white sedan near 29th Avenue and McDowell Road around 2AM.

Upon arrival, officers located an adult male and an adult female gunshot victim inside a white Hyundai.

Fire crews arrived and transported both victims to a local trauma center.

The adult female was transported in critical condition.

The adult male was transported in serious but non-life-threatening condition.

Officers spoke with the adult male victim and learned that the shooting occurred at a residence near 4800 W. Granada Road.

The victims were reportedly shot at this residence and attempted to drive a to hospital before stopping on McDowell and calling 911.

Officers responded to the address and surrounded the residence.

Several officers with shields & rifles approached the home and forced entry into the residence to check for any suspects or additional victims.

Officers found multiple small children in the home.

The children were uninjured.

Per radio traffic and conversations overheard between officers on scene, the suspect was spotted by officers on I-10 near downtown Phoenix.

Tactical Support Bureau units tracked the suspect east on I-10.

DPS was notified and responded to assist.

Troopers engaged in a pursuit with the suspect which led officers south towards Tucson.

Several agencies including DPS, Marana Police, Pinal County Sheriffs Office and Phoenix Police were involved.

Spike strips were used to deflate the suspects tires just south of Marana on I-10.

The suspect vehicle was brought to a stop with a PIT maneuver near West Burlingame Road and I-10 in Tucson around 3:30 AM.

The suspect is reportedly barricaded inside his vehicle, refusing commands from police.
