Double Fatal Shooting in Greengate Neighborhood

DETAILS:
- Deputies with the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office were dispatched to a shooting.
- Deputies arrived and found two individuals in their late 50s who had been shot.
- One individual was pronounced deceased at the scene, and the second was transported to a hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
- The shooter remained on scene and surrendered to deputies.
- The shooter claimed self-defense, stating the individuals who were shot had been following him, blocked him as he pulled into the neighborhood and came up to his car to confront him.
- Detectives were working to verify the shooter’s account and determine where the deceased individuals were prior to arriving at the location.
- No charges had been filed at the time, though charges could be filed at a later date pending the investigation.
- One of the deceased individuals was identified at the hospital; detectives were still working to identify the second victim and next of kin.
- If the shooter is not charged, the case will be referred to the district attorney’s office and may later be presented to a grand jury.
